Yes. Following a 2019 Constitutional Court ruling, foreign spouses can apply for a spousal visa from within South Africa, provided the relationship meets legal requirements.
How long is a spousal visa valid, and can it be renewed?
A temporary spousal visa is typically valid for 2 to 3 years and can be renewed. After 5 years of marriage or partnership, you may apply for permanent residency.
Can I work, study, or run a business on a spousal visa?
Yes, but you need an endorsement for one activity (work, study, or business). You cannot hold multiple endorsements at the same time.
What financial proof is required for a spousal visa?
The South African spouse must show the ability to support the applicant with at least R8,500 per month, usually through bank statements or employment proof.
